October 2018-19

With the amazing work and effort applied by all our students in half term one, we cannot wait to get stuck in to half term two, on the run up to Christmas. This half term we are excited to be offering our new Year 2 festivals.

As an introduction to our competitive sport program, we are welcoming our Year 2s to participate in a range of sports. This term they will compete in Athletics and Matball. We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive well done to past, present and future competitors who turn up weekly to represent their school. Without the support of the school staff and the pupil’s enthusiasm we would not achieve such a positive outcome.

Mr Mimms – My star pupil from Half Term 1 is Erin from Herringthorpe Infants (Class FB). We have been working on Gymnastics in this block work. She has shown some excellent control during our sequences. She has been chosen to demonstrate to her peers the different rolling, balancing and jumping techniques. Her attitude and concentration throughout the half term have been impeccable. Well Done Erin keep up the hard work!!

Miss Fretwell – My star pupil from Half Term 1 is Kye Dixon from Anston Brook Primary School. Kye is a very enthusiastic pupil whose passion for sport is inspiring. Our sport in PE has been football which is Kyes favourite sport. His attitude and effort have been outstanding all half term, not only with his own skills but in helping others. Kye plays outside of school for Wickersley Allstars as well as Sheffield Wednesday. He has recently been chosen to attend trials for the Academy team with Sheffield Wednesday, I have no doubts that he will sail through. They would be lucky to have such a hardworking, funny and extremely talented player … Good Luck Kye!

Mr Chadburn – My star pupil for half term 1 is Archie from Thurcroft Infants. Archie has been an absolute star during his PE lessons. During this half terms work we have been working on ball skills and through this Archie has shown great improvement with his ball control. He always puts 100% into everything he does. He is a high performer during lessons and is eager to help others if they look to be struggling. Well done Archie, keep up the good work!

Mr Heald– My Live & Learn star pupil for half term 1 is Martina from St Ann’s Junior & Infant School (Class Y4AT). Martina has consistently demonstrated a superb attitude in all her PE lessons this term. Her football knowledge and skills have significantly improved over this term because of her positive attitude and desire to learn. Additionally, Martina has shown an exceptional commitment to representing St Ann’s in competitive basketball fixtures. Well done, Martina. What a fantastic start to the year!

Well done to all the children who took part in our Football festivals in half term one. The winning schools from the festivals and who qualify for the Rotherham Finals are:

  • Under 9 Girls – Coleridge Primary School
  • Under 9 Boys – Northfield Primary School
  • Under 11 Girls – Northfield Primary School
  • Under 11 Boys – Northfield Primary School

We would also like to say a huge congratulations to all our schools that participate in our Thursday fixture nights. Within half term 1 our schools played both basketball and netball fixtures.

The winners for basketball were Coleridge Primary

We are looking forward to our Tag Rugby fixtures starting after Christmas in half term three.
