January – February 2020

We would like to welcome all our schools, parents and children back after the Christmas break. We hope you have had the most magical time with family and friends and are looking forward to getting stuck back in. Over the next few half terms, we will be challenging our children to participate in even more fixtures and festivals, as well as their schools PE and extra curriculum activities. We look forward to seeing you all soon and would like to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Mr Mimms – This half term we have started the U9’s Tag Rugby fixtures on a Thursday. I want to say massive well done to Coleridge Primary as they won 5 out of 5 and dominated every single game in which they played. They were ever so organised during the games both when attacking and defending. They showed great knowledge and understanding. A big well done goes to Miss Fretwell and Mrs McArdle who have prepared the team fantastically.

Miss Fretwell – Half term three saw Class 4 at Herringthorpe Infant School work on their Hockey skills. The class have shown some amazing skills and have impressed me with the amount of control which they all have. I have been working with this class since September and I am so happy with the progression this class have made, not only skill based, but their attitude to learning has improved massively. Their enthusiasm towards PE is exactly what we look for. They are a pleasure to teach and I am excited to see what the rest of the school year brings. Keep it up Class 4!!

Mr Chadburn – Broom Valley Primary Y2. The Y2’s at Broom have participated in both the Matball and the Hockey festival showing great knowledge and understanding on how both games work. The teams had been picked through 5 weeks of training and preparation for the fixtures. Picking the team wasn’t easy as I had to whittle 30 children talented children down into 8. Congratulations on both wins Broom Valley.

Mr Heald – First of all, I would like to say a huge thank you to all schools I have worked in this term for your hard work and commitment in lessons. I’ve been very impressed! Having said this, one class has really stood out for me this term. Y5W at Badsley Primary School have been exceptional in their Gymnastics learning this term. They’ve worked really hard to develop their skills and build gymnastic sequences. It was impressive to see the way they worked together to perform partner and group balances.

After the Christmas break, we got straight back into the swing of things with our Thursday night fixtures and Monday morning festivals.

Our half term three Monday morning festivals have been and won by:

Y2 Hockey – Broom Valley Primary

Y5/6 Boys Sportshall Athletics – Herringthorpe Juniors

Y5/6 Girls Sportshall Athletics – Coleridge Primary

Our Thursday night fixtures have been and won by:

Y3/4 Tag Rugby – Coleridge Primary

Congratulations and well done to all!
