Half Term 5 2018-19

Happy Easter to All! Welcome back to all our staff and children.

Half Term 5 will be our shortest Half term this year, so we are looking forward to getting stuck in and started with our new sports and clubs. We would      like to thank all the children that booked on and participated in our holiday camps over the Easter break, it was amazing to see so many of you. The enthusiasm and skills shown were mind blowing, so a massive well done to all! It is our pleasure this half term to review our schools and choose a star pupil/star class who have impressed us over the last few weeks.

Mr Mimms – My star class for Half Term 4 are Year 5’s from Coleridge Primary. We have been doing Cricket this half term working on the 3 skills of Bowling, Batting and Fielding. The children have shown unbelievable understanding of the 3 skills. This is proven because some of the children have taken part in the U11’s Cricket fixtures afterschool and finished top of the league. Well done Y5 keep it up in to the final part of the year.

Miss Fretwell – My star classes for Half Term 4/5 are Y3JP and FSLP at St Anns. Since September both classes have improved massively on all skills. Half term 4/5 saw FSLP participate in racquet skills, which is a challenge for their age group and Y3JP participated in Orienteering skills, again which is very difficult. Both classes have shown outstanding skills and their enthusiasm has been amazing. If any task has proven to be a challenge they have worked through as a group and created the best possible outcome. I am extremely proud of both classes and cannot wait to see what sports we will be working on in Half Term 6. Well Done!

Mr Chadburn – My star class for Half Term 4/5 are Y6RH at St Anns. Over the last couple of half terms they have been fighting through the process of revising for their SATS. Even with this in place they have shown great enthusiasm during their PE lessons even with SATS on the back of their minds. Each and every time they come outside for our lessons they have all put in 110% and it shows through how much they have developed as a whole. With Half Term 6 just around the corner and some children leaving to move on their process into further education I’m sure that they will be as good if not better as the year comes to an end. Keep up the good work Y6!

Mr Heald – Mystar classes for Half term 4 & 5 are Y3S and Y4J at Badsley Moor. Both classes have shown an excellent attitude towards PE. In Half Term 4, both classes participated in orienteering and demonstrated an exceptional level of enthusiasm throughout the unit. This was very pleasing to see! During Half term 5, both classes were involved in playing Tri-Golf. Although the children found Tri-golf quite challenging, they displayed an excellent level of effort to ensure they improved their putting and chipping skills each week. Tri-golf concluded with all children participating in a mini Tri-golf tournament. What a way to end!

Half term four/five saw our schools compete in some fantastic festivals, both on a Monday morning and a Thursday afternoon. On a Monday morning our schools compete in a variety of festivals to be taken through to a cluster final. The winning schools of our Half term four festivals were:

Orienteering:

Y5/6 Boys – Badsley Primary

Y5/6 Girls – Coleridge Primary

Y3/4 Girls – Northfield Primary

Y2 Football – Brinsworth Manor Infants

Our schools are then invited to compete in a Thursday fixture night, where they compete against other schools in a league. Our winners for Half term three and four were:
